The importance of orthodontics for young adults and children in the UK is forever growing. More likely than not you will know somebody who is wearing or has worn braces. For some though, simply heading to your local orthodontist isn’t so easy. Across Wales, thousands of teenagers are being forced to wait years for their braces on the NHS. The BBC news posted an article referring to some young students and orthodontic treatment. It stated that Thomas, an 18-year-old from Llanbadarn, near Aberystwyth, has been waiting over 6 years for his braces, and he’s not the only one.
The waiting times have become so long that some parents are taking their children to privatised orthodontic practices, like Specialist Orthodontist Harley Street, in order to get their treatment completed at a younger age. This is in-turn helping to prevent confidence issues and anxiety in later teen and adultescent years.
The problem continues to be a problem for many people in Wales, but it is getting better. More funding has been provided to help the situation and finally young adults are getting the treatment they’ve been promised. Orthodontists have also announced that any teens who have been referred for orthodontic treatment before their 18th birthday will still be able to receive treatment on the NHS, even if they’re over 18.

Invisalign braces are considered to be one of the most modern forms of orthodontic treatment. Invisalign utilises a series of clear aligners to gradually manoeuvre your teeth into the correct position. Not only are these aligners nearly invisible, they are also removable.
Invisalign braces can be used to address a range of orthodontic problems, including health issues such as incorrect bites, gaps and overcrowding. These clear braces can also help alleviate cosmetic problems with your smile.
