National Smile Month

National Smile Month is a campaign running from the 18th May to the 18th June, aimed towards promoting good oral health through three messages:

  • Regular brushing with a fluoride toothpaste, including last thing at night.
  • Reducing the amount of sugary food and drink you consume.
  • Visiting your dentist regularly, as recommended.
National Smile Month

These three messages help us develop and maintain healthy teeth and gums, with the ultimate goal being to improve our physical and mental well-being. By bringing together both individuals and organisations who are passionate about good oral healthcare, National Smile Month can help improve the health of smiles around the world.

To get involved; why not challenge your family to brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste for at least 2 minutes? You can time them using your phone.

Where Can I Go to Have My Teeth Straightened?

Typically, you will have your treatment either in a practice or dental hospital. If you're going through the NHS you will need a referral so you can receive treatment at a hospital. This will often happen if you require more advanced or complicated treatment.

Orthodontic Consultation

Alternatively, if you opt for private treatment you can choose which practice you are treated at. This way, you can find a provider who has the necessary experience and qualifications to straighten your teeth.

No matter where you receive treatment, make sure you're aware of what orthodontics can and cannot achieve. You may have a number of dental problems that have been caused by crooked teeth, which will require prior treatment before you can receive orthodontics.
